Quick Trip to Hannover

Last week I took trip to Hannover to meet up with an old school friend.
Hannover is the capital of the state of Lower Saxony in Germany.

Although there was many, many, many beverages consumed (what else what you expect when you pair Australians and Germans?) we did get to do a wee bit of touristy things in between the vodka, Jager and drinking games.

Hannover Rathaus
A trip to the Rathaus proved informative as there was a display of how the town has grown since the 17th century.

Today

During World War II more that 90% of the city was destroyed from bombing raids, with more than 6000 people killed.

Many of the buildings were rebuilt but some, such as the St-Aegidienkirche, was left as a memorial to World War II.

Hannover also has a huge shopping district, which includes all the budget travellers favourites - TK Maxx, Primark, etc - that were full of sales and bargains!

Although it was great to catch up with Dan and meet more people (the more people you know, the more chance of a couch to crash on ;) the next trip I take will definitely have a bit more research done so that no things of significance are missed.
